Birds are some of the most appealing creatures to photograph, but they can also be some of the trickiest. Many of them are tiny, they move quickly, and their behavior can seem almost unpredictable. In this presentation, you’ll learn basic observational and photographic strategies to help you get the most from your time in the field or in your backyard.
First, we'll discuss where to look for birds and how to observe them, how to decode bird behavior, and identification tips. Next, I'll be joined by instructor Neil Chaput de Saintonge, founder of the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. He'll discuss his favorite types of lenses, how to photograph both stationary and in-flight birds, how and when to use tripods, different exposure methods, and more. Together, we'll provide a solid foundation to leave you feeling more comfortable trying your hand at bird photography!
Hosted by the Missoula Public Library, this event is free and open to the public.
